"We may get old and shrink, but we'll always have great hair." - Mom
I'm home.
It's been 11 months since I've been back and it feels like just another day and I'm incredibly lucky to say that. Like a migrating goose that tracks the changing ratio of daylight to darkness as winter progresses, it was time to come home.
This all happened by chance and like most things that happens for a reason, this kid from Parkdale had to return home to renew his vows to the city that raised him.
Oh yeah, and I also got creative again with Zach Hertzman (http://zachhertzman.com/).
And got into the studio with Memorecks (https://soundcloud.com/memorecks).
It's been so long since I've been proud of any work I've done and it's a struggle for anyone who has any type of "writer's block" and my situation wasn't about any block, I just wasn't there.
However, I'm ready to take it back and this music video is step one.
It's also been so long since I've had a greasy spoon diner breakfast.
Thanks Harry's Charcoal Broil.
My mother used to encourage me whenever I felt lonely and lost. She used to tell me that while I was running away from problems, she was running away from bombs and to imagine coming to a country where she didn't speak the language and more importantly, couldn't find a decent bowl of pho. She's right, even if her examples are a bit strange.
With this music video, I hope to capture what I used to find beautiful again.
And what keeps me going? These guys. They want me home but they also want me to be happy and to be happy, it can always be felt with oceans in the way so being home wasn't necessary anymore. They see potential in me for whatever reason like my parents once saw me as a doctor/dentist/accountant, they see me as now having control of my identity again.
This is Ivan otherwise known as Oriion (https://www.oriionmusic.com) and I'm his Creative Director.
I'll be back home soon and I promise it won't take 11 months again.
To be continued.
